Today at my internship I heard some of the most intense stories of my life. Which, is saying a lot if you know me. I feel incredibly fortunate to have this opportunity to help this incredible organization. These stories made my jaw drop. They were some of the most heinous cases of sexual abuse I had ever heard. The foster parents that take these kids in are truly angels. I’m not a godly person, but in this case I am. No one in their right mind would wanna take these kids in, but they do it! WILLINGLY! I hope when I’m older I have enough courage to become an emergency foster parent.
In other news, it finally warmed up around here! Yesterday, today and tomorrow are all going to be above freezing! In fact, it got up into the 50’s today! It’s such a relief to have nice warm weather. I am really sick of winter all ready. We had our big snow, we had our 3 weeks of hi’s hopefully hitting 20, and our time with the windchill being below 0. I’M DONE.
ALSO, Harvest of Hope fest just announced their line up! So if you don’t know what that is you should definitely check it out! It’s a great cause and even better music! The line-up is truly superb this year. http://harvestofhopefest.com/artist.php
This is where I am going to be doing my internship this coming semester. I am going to be doing something! REALLY doing something! I couldn’t be anymore excited! I’m going to be going to meetings with them and going to DSS with them and filing paper work and looking over clinical evaluations and all kinds of really interesting stuff. FUCK having a job this semester, unpaid internships are the way to go! Please check out the program it’s called PERCS and it is a subset of Caring for Children and they could use a ton of donations!
